Explore the most frequently asked questions about the Sentinel platform
Sentinel is a secure, out-of-band communication and collaboration platform for incidents and crises. It gives your crisis team a place to alert people, meet, share plans and make decisions when your normal systems (email, Microsoft 365, Teams, your network) are down, compromised or can't be trusted.
Out-of-band means separate from the systems you use every day. In a cyber-attack, attackers may be inside your email and collaboration tools and able to read your response. In an outage, those tools may simply not work. Sentinel is hosted independently of Microsoft 365, Azure and your own infrastructure, so it stays available and private when they aren't.
Teams and Slack usually run on the same identity and infrastructure an attacker may have compromised, and they fail when that infrastructure fails. Consumer apps like WhatsApp give you no administrative control, no managed access and no audit trail you own. Sentinel gives you an independent environment you control, with a complete record of the response.
Sentinel is for organisations that need to keep leadership, crisis teams, staff and stakeholders connected during disruption, including cyber incidents, IT outages, security threats and physical emergencies. It is also offered through managed service providers (MSPs) and security partners, who provide Sentinel Spaces to their own clients.
No. Every customer gets their own fully independent, single-tenant instance, with its own operating system, hosted on AWS. It does not connect to or depend on any central YUDU system. A problem affecting one customer's instance cannot affect another's, and there is no shared platform that becomes a single point of failure.
Sentinel can be hosted in any AWS region. Instances currently run in the UK, Ireland (EU), the US and Singapore. Germany (Frankfurt) is available where in-country residency is required.
No. Sentinel is deployed as a private, single-tenant cloud instance. It deliberately sits outside your own infrastructure, because your infrastructure may be what's affected.
Video meetings run through Whereby. All recordings and transcripts are encrypted and stored on your own Sentinel instance, not on Whereby's servers.
Yes. YUDU maintains a security profile on Risk Ledger, which we can share on request.
Yes. Activity on the platform is recorded in a full audit log with tamper-evident timestamps. The log can be exported for post-incident review, regulators, insurers or legal counsel.
No. SMS and email alerts reach anyone with a phone or inbox. The apps add push notifications, chat and mobile access for your response team.
Users can log in to Sentinel. Contacts are people you communicate with, such as staff, partners or customers, but who don't log in. There is no limit on the number of contacts.
Yes, via our API. Automated provisioning and removal of users from your HR or directory system can be set up as an API integration. It is not an automatic out-of-the-box sync.
Yes. Additional channels can be added through integration. This is scoped and priced as a project.
No. Your team can use Sentinel through a web browser. Mobile and desktop apps are available for push notifications and on-the-move access.

Pricing depends on the number of Spaces and users you need and your expected usage (messaging, video and document hosting). We quote an annual licence that bundles these, so costs are predictable.
Yes. MSPs and security partners can resell, refer or integrate Sentinel.
Sentinel Partners typically hold an annual platform licence, run their own resilient Space, and create Spaces for their clients as a value-added resilience service.
Most continuity tools help you write plans; Sentinel helps you carry them out. It keeps your plans reachable when internal systems fail and alerts the right people in seconds from pre-built templates. It gives decision-makers a secure place to meet and coordinate, and keeps a timestamped record for the post-incident review.
Run Sentinel in your exercises and tabletop tests, not just in live incidents. Teams that have logged in, received a test alert and joined a crisis room before a real event respond much faster when it counts.
